Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
というわけで、KOALAMAXさんからのお勧めでSmashing Pumpkins - 1979。
実はすごくこのPVは好きです。
僕のエバーグリーン。ビデオにTVK撮ってテープが擦り切れるほどみました。
もちろんDVDも買いました。
そして、来月ジェームスイハのDJイベントに行きます。
楽しみです。
この気持ちをわすれないように

シカゴ出身のビリー・コーガンと仲間たちは、オルタナティヴ・ロック全盛の90年代初頭にデビューした。ビリー・コーガンの異常なまでの完璧主義により、91年から95年の間に素晴らしい３枚のアルバム『ギッシュ』『サイアミーズ・ドリーム』『メロンコリーそして終りのない悲しみ』をリリースしている。すべての作品において特徴的だったのは、囁いていたかと思えば次の瞬間は泣き叫ぶようなビリー・コーガンの多彩なヴォーカル、コーガンとジェームス・イハの激しく疾走するギター・プレイ、さらに「シルヴァーフ＊ック」や「ベリー・ミー」「奇人U.S.A.」を最高潮へと盛り上げるジミー・チェンバレンの推進力のあるパワフルなドラムだった。その後、メンバー・チェンジ、電子系サウンドへの方向転換を経て、00年２月にはアルバム『MACHINA/the mahines of god』をリリースするも、00年いっぱいをもってバンドを解散することが表明されている。
